A Short Trip to Monterey, CA

As I mentioned in my last blog, we planned to return to Monterey, CA in a few weeks for my sister-in-law’s Memorial Service. We decided not to take the trailer this time so we could travel more quickly, and chose instead to stay in a local hotel. I was also able to find a wonderful, loving dog sitter who could stay with my fur-baby Mickey in our home. It was great to know she was well taken care of, especially since it was my first time leaving her.

If you’re ever in the Monterey area and looking for a place to stay, I’d highly recommend the Monterey Bay Lodge. The rooms were recently renovated and it felt fresh and clean. It’s also walking distance to the wharf and beach (where dogs ARE allowed), and a small park and lake just across the street where you can rent fun little paddle boats.  It was nice walking to the park and later, the wharf, for dinner.

Monterey is really beautiful and the weather was perfect. My brother & sister-in-law have lived here for more than 40 years and it was always so nice to visit. Scott and I and some of my other family took a drive on along the Big Sur coast over to the iconic Bixby Bridge.0131014201520192018101610202

The next day, after the Memorial Service, we decided to take a little detour before we headed home. (Blog Coming Soon!)
