I married my husband late in life and was blessed with a young “bonus” son. Since my hubby became a father in his early 40’s, and I’m a few years older than him, I suppose some think he’s our grandson!

We bought our first camper, a pop up trailer, in late 2015 (aka “Minnie”, as in “mini camper” and also because we love Disney!) and I decided I wanted to document our travels. (Check out my very first blog of our pop-up Disney themed renovation.) We had both camped a little when we were younger, but neither had seen much of the U.S. and we wanted to start a new tradition “Exploring New Hites” – yes, our last name – all over this beautiful country.  We’ve now sold our pop up and bought a small hard-sided trailer, the Minnie Winnie Micro 1700BH model.

This blog also started with a focus on camping with our little fur-baby, Mickey, as she joined us on all our trips (many of the earlier blogs include info on camping with pets), but we had to say good-bye to her in late May of 2018. It took a year and a half before I was ready to even consider another fur-baby. We now have a new baby named Shania who just happens to look a lot like Mickey, but she’s a poodle-chihuahua-and probably dachshund mix. “Short Stack” is silly and cuddly and loves being anywhere we are.

I’ve never claimed to be a writer, and am an amateur photographer at best, but I’ve enjoyed reading so many other blogs so I’m hoping someone will enjoy our adventures as well. So, these are our adventures. Hope you enjoy, and please leave a comment!
