Veteran’s Memorial Park Campground – Monterey, CA

A couple years ago we discovered this great campground in Monterey and it is really a GEM! I mostly took videos of this visit and very few photos, so CLICK HERE to see the YouTube video which includes DRONE footage of the campground. One thing about camping in Monterey is 1) There aren’t a lot of options, and 2) It’s very expensive, so we were very happy to have another option as we visit Monterey about once a year to see family.

Veteran’s Memorial Park Campground in Monterey CA is open year round to the public. When we first visited a few years ago we thought you had to be a veteran to camp here but that’s NOT the case! It’s open to anyone! You can stay as an RVer or a tent camper, and there are hiking trails nearby so you will also see a lot of hikers passing through.

We enjoyed making pizza with our new-ish Coleman Camping Oven. It’s super lightweight and easy to use. We don’t have an oven in our little camper, so this is really handy.

The Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail is great for walking or biking and stretches 18 miles from Castroville north of Monterey all the way south to Pacific Grove. We walked from the Monterey Wharf area to the Monterey Aquarium. You will pass by San Carlos beach where there are tons of scuba divers, and through Cannery Row, where we stopped for lunch before heading back.

And here are some shots of the Monterey Peninsula area…
